  1. I hate those traps, they should be outlawed.

    1. No injury, unless no one releases it and it either starves to death or amputates his own foot to escape.
I personally only approve of traps for humans.

  2. Safer than applying that 'rear naked choke'...

Nice job by the trapper, it is a fine line between applying enough pressure to make the cat pass out vs doing permanent damage or killing it.

  4. A friend of mine caught a bobcat in one of his traps when we were teenagers. He figured he was going to bring it home and make a pet of it, as he had an old chicken coop that was empty. The cat remained with him for about 2 weeks before he let it go. He got tired of hunting rabbits to keep it fed. He was feeding it a jackrabbit every day.

If you've never heard a bobcat growl up close, it will chill you to the bone. As soon as you started walking toward the coop, it would start growling and not stop until you left.

Got another bobcat story that is pretty funny, but I'll leave that for another time.

  5. You want to make a pet of bob cats you need to get them really young. I have seen some tame ones out west. Would not be my first choice as a pet as the are big. Like medium dog size big.

    1. There used to be one at my ranch that was huge. I made a guess of it's size, as I'd only seen it at a distance. As I got to thinking about it I thought "Naw, they can't get that big".
Well, I just checked on Wikipedia and yes, they can. Up to 49" long, 24" in height at the shoulders and up to 40 pounds. That's a big cat that I wouldn't want to mess with.

  6. I live in Michigan. I have been in the outdoors my entire life, hunting, fishing, or just walking around in the woods. I have only seen one Bobcat, and that was crossing the road, at close to midnight, and it stopped in the middle of the road, and stared at my car. Then it jumped and ran back to where it came from.
They tell me that there are a lot of Bobcats around, but you just don't see them. Mostly, you get pictures on trail cams.
I did see a LOT of red foxes. In the country, they were everywhere when I was growing up. Visiting a farmer friend, we saw 2 of them about 400 yards away, running from one end of a field to the other, probably a 5 acre field. We were up at the house, and could look down and watch them. They ran faster than you would expect.
