When I was a Uh-1 Crewchief in the 80's our new 'Safety Nazi' took all our monkey harnesses away. We used to do lots of drops for the local sport parachute clubs (Ft Bragg) and the Golden Knights. Well, when your at 10k feet it's really cold, I mean COLD so I would unbuckle from my single seat behind the pilots and crawl back and close the doors once the jumpers were away. (Not static line) No line, no chute at 10k feet, I doubt I would do it again.

ReplyDeleteLike that rope is actually going to save him.
ReplyDeleteIt's just to make sure he gets to the same crash site as the plane.
DeletePush the nose over to terminal velocity, slap the stick to the left, she'll crank... usually.

Too bad the tail number was shown. The FAA takes a dim view of such antics. Yes, I looked up the N number.
ReplyDeleteIt worked. Why would the FAA not approve of this? Plane didn't crash...I hope.
