NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A trial date has been set for case seeking to allow the firing squad and other execution methods outside of lethal injection and the electric chair in Tennessee.
U.S. District Judge William Campbell scheduled the trial for April 2022.
Sounds like a Gary Gilmore inspired "Let's Do It" plan.
ReplyDeleteGary don't need his eyes to see; Gary and his eyes have parted company.
DeleteThe method of execution should mimic the method used in the associated crime. A family member should be given the opportunity to deliver the punishment. Old Testament style. Brutal? Perhaps. Effective? Absolutely.
ReplyDeleteA - freakin - MEN !!
DeleteHas anyone ever considered making cells on death row airtight, and then when the time comes pump carbon monoxide into the cell of the man for whom the bell tolls in the 'dead' of night? How could that possibly be considered cruel and unusual?
ReplyDeleteIt is if I keep coming by and opening the door for cell check.
DeleteNitrogen would be cheaper and safer.
DeleteFor hundreds of years, the Romans used lots of very nasty ways to kill condemned prisoners. So while they may have been cruel, they aren't unusual. Bringing back of few of their more creative efforts would certainly be attention-getting for the criminal class.
DeleteAgree with the nitrogen comment. Best part is that you can vent it to the atmosphere afterwards.
DeleteI've always thought a large dose of selected snake venom would be neither cruel nor unusual. Snakes have been killing people for millennia, so it's not unusual. Supplied along with a sedative intravenously, it need not be painful or cruel.
ReplyDeleteSome veterinarians use a vacuum chamber to euthanize cats and small small dogs by collapsing the lungs. This could be scaled up to be quick and painless, with no toxic byproducts.
Geek
Easy peasy. Just give them an overdose of Fentanyl.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the worst that could happen? China going to cut off our supply?
Is their a raffle? Does one have to prove TN residency to enter?
ReplyDelete*there...dammit
ReplyDeleteFeed them to some feral hogs. Death from natural causes.
ReplyDeleteHonestly. If you've already resolved to killing the person, 'how' shouldn't be such a big issue. Quick, relatively painless. Sure.. but, I mean, you're dying. It may sting a moment.
ReplyDeletePunishment for any murder of a child should be "drawn and quartered". Firing squad for the rest.
