She has shut down a dozen grocery stores across the state. Why would a governor make such a draconian move?

Who had a governor is going to shut down grocery stores due to the pandemic on their 2020 coronavirus bingo card? If you did, stamp that square. The governor of New Mexico is shutting down grocery stores in her state over COVID-19 testing results.

Governor Grisham's mother, Sonja, is listed as private on Geni.com. Interesting, and a fairly recent development, since earlier online analyses of her maternal relatives contain names such as Flossie Harshman, Sadie Shonkwiler and Minnie Jane Fortner. Genealogy can be fun!

The problem with that is that JH is seriously inflating the numbers.

JH does two basic things wrong.
1. They report as "New Cases" per day, the state's *reported cases* for that date, regardless of when the case began. In Georgia, that led to JH claiming 6,213 "news cases" on November 21. But Georgia only reported *2* new daily cases on that date. All the other cases the state reported that say were older cases for which they had just received the lab reports; some of those cases were from at least as far back as early July, certainly not "new."
2. JH also lumps in positive rapid antigen tests as "COVID-19." That is really, really bad, because the RAT will pop positive for a wide range of coronaviruses, including the common cold; not just SARS-CoV-2. In fact, if what I'm reading is right, RAT will test positive for any betacoronavirus. Georgia will NOT call a positive RAT COVID-19 UNLESS it is confirmed by an RNA PCR tests. JH does.
2.5. This alleged "surge" across the country coincidentally came when the feds distributed millions of free RATS across the country, and encouraged the states to go crazy with them. I'm sure that surge in non-specific testing, that incorrectly gets classed as COVID-19 has nothing to do with the "surge" in "cases." /sarc
