Don't these people have homes to OD in?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 28-year-old woman who had to be revived with Narcan told Nashville detectives she overdosed on heroin while her three young children were in the backseat of her vehicle watching a movie, an arrest warrant alleges.

This is the third or fourth story I've ran in a month about parents in Nashville overdosing with their kids in the car with them.

  2. Unfortunately, her 'participation trophies' would have continued to be in danger - this may have saved their lives.

  3. My son (a prosecutor) says this happens all the time... they go and get their drugs from their dealer and can't wait to shoot up... so sad.

  4. Heroin is a tough one. Had a guy come through the ED for heroin OD, rescued him, sent him to me (special unit in ED). Guy was sorrowful on my exam. Walked out of the room, and had a code called within 5 minutes.....to the same room. The guy found some left-over heroin in his pocket and main-lined it (through our IV, efficient little bugger). Gave a metric shit-ton of narcan and transferred him to the ICU.

The REAL secret to narcan is give just enough to bring their respirations up, but not enough to awaken them. Something about blowing their high, pisses them off, then you've got a fight on your hands.
