Restaurant owners, supporters surround home of L.A. County Supervisor who dined out after voting to ban outdoor dining

A few dozen restaurant owners and their supporters converged outside the Santa Monica home of Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl on Saturday to express their frustrations with the latest restaurant outdoor dining shutdowns.

Carrying signs and chanting “let us work!” the group of demonstrators surrounded Kuehl’s home demanding to be allowed back to work, as stimulus negotiations continue to stall amid the worsening pandemic.

Kuehl made headlines earlier this week after she was seen eating outdoors at Il Forno Trattoria in Santa Monica on Nov. 24, just hours after voting to ban outdoor dining throughout the county for three weeks amid rising coronavirus cases in the region.

  1. People need to stop asking for permission. Call their hand.

    1. "Call their hand."

      You misspelled "stretch their necks"

  2. Kuehl, of course, is the actress that played Zelda Gilroy in the classic TV series, "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis".

Her intelligence has been trending down since.

    1. She is also as queer as a three dollar bill. But, when you are that ugly you just have to work with what you've got.

  3. Just to be clear, the 'pandemic' referenced here is the sudden and inexplicable stiffening of spines in response to the lockdowns.

But they have a vaccine for that...

  4. "Join us in our walk against lightning"

Does anyone really believe that Sheila gives a damn about anyone of us? The real answer is: refuse the specials service. Sheila wakanda, gov Newsom, the mayor of Denver, and Nancy peloci are only able to do this shit because someone opened to door for them. Perhaps these former business owners time would be better spent protesting at the homes of the business owners who let them in......just saying. If the specials' had to play by the same rules, then things might change.

  8. Surrounding them won't do a damn bit of good. They need to burn them alive while they are in there.

    1. That's what I was thinking, too. They need to go all "peaceful protest" on their asses.

  9. I did one of my periodic forays to CNN the other day and Don Lemon was whining about how the Right was doing this; didn't they make a big deal out of it when the Lefties did it; how could the Conservatives stoop so long, etc.
They really do not like it when we use their same tactics against them.

  11. Even if you just opened back up for business the public is so scared at this point they will just boycott you. Karens and Kens are just everywhere and spewing their "justice" on social media platforms. Until there is a change in governing the madness will continue indefinitely. There is a parable about a snake and its head that comes to mind here.

I live in an *ultraviolet* area. If you talk with most of the locals one on one, they'll almost all admit that they are sick of this bullshit and that things need to be open again, too. There are definitely fanatical Covidians around, but though loud, they are thin on the ground.

  14. re:
    habituation

An individual accustomed to eating at home is reluctant to change that routine.

I owned a restaurant business for ten years.
Many of our customers developed it into a community center, coming in for two and three meals a day plus coffee.
During 'this phase of this Economic Lock-Down', folks became accustomed to existing with little-to-none contact with their community.

That trust will be difficult to re-establish.
