Thousands Forced to Flee Homes, Military Base as Fast-Moving Wildfire Closes In
A fast-moving wildfire burning on and around Camp Pendleton military base in Southern California forced thousands of people to flee in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve.
I grew up both next to and on that base...not sure what part you are referring to as a swamp, most of Pendleton is essentially hilly land that is a good drought away from being a desert, including native cacti, except the river bottoms where the desert butts right up to the water, or the ocean, where the desert changes from clay and rock to sand, then water.
Why the hell would the military flee a fire? Bring in the combat engineering batalions and let them take care of business.
ReplyDeleteCamp Pendleton's on a swamp. That's what the Marines do. They find a swamp and put a military base on it.
ReplyDeleteNO Camp Pendleton is not swamp, Camp Lejeune is in the swamp along with Parris Island!!!! grayman

DeleteFire moves quickly at Pendleton. See it on the horizon and find it nipping on your heels as you try to get out of the way. BTDT
