Your Tuesday Morning Florida Report

MIAMI, Fla. – A golden retriever rescue group based in South Florida awaited the arrival of 20 dogs from China being flown into Miami along with 20 eager dog lovers waiting to take their new pet home.

A spokesperson for Golden Rescue South Florida said the dogs were abused in China and would have most likely been butchered and ended up in the dog market as food.

  1. ..... to bring the golden retrievers here — they said it costs a minimum of $2,600 per dog.....
Does it make sense to spend this much to simply deny food to starving chinese?

  2. It begs the question: Are golden retrievers a better tasting dog meat than other breeds? Or is it aesthetics?

    1. It's probably just aesthetics. Chinese tend to like yellow or golden colored things, regardless of function. When I first visited several decades ago, I happened to bring a waterproof camera from a diving trip. Their extreme curiosity about my foreignness was almost completely overpowered by their utter shock at seeing my "golden camera". I quickly ran out of film since everyone within miles had to have their picture taken by the golden camera. (Didn't even occur to them that they would never see me again to get a copy of the picture.)

  5. One-up-manship. You might have got your Heinz from an indigenous rescue, but I rescued my golden from China.

  6. Well I see the CCP has come up with a new method to spread another virus to the U.S.
