It’s yet another part of an unfolding saga AmmoLand has been covering on the corruption that California’s “may issue” concealed carry permitting scheme makes inevitable. Limiting issuance to politically connected and well-heeled campaign donors not only denies equal protection to all but particularly discriminates against the economically disadvantaged and minorities. Unsurprisingly, no one in a position to do something about it wants to even admit that dimension of the scandal, let alone investigate it.

CEO and Sheriff Exemplify Hypocrisy, Corruption of ‘May Issue’ Gun Carry Permits
(Ammoland.com) - “Gun bribery probe: Santa Clara County Sheriff acted to obscure use of donor’s Sharks suite, according to testimony,” a Tuesday report by The Mercury News claims. “In grand-jury transcripts, employee says Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith purchased cheap seats to avoid gift reporting for donated luxury box targeted in indictment.”

All I had to do was read the headline to know the story was going to be about Laurie Smith and Santa Clara County.

She's been sheriff since '98.
Her 2019 compensation was $296,012.43.
Undersheriff Rick Sung made $273,949.75 in 2019. Captain James Jensen made $189,816.73.
And they're all exempt from most California gun laws. For life.
Those huge salaries are supposed to be a disincentive to taking bribes lol
