Leftists Are Colonizing Red Towns Like Mine, And Local Republicans Are Clueless

As 2020 wound to a close, pundits noted the growing toll of leftist policies on residents of blue states, prompting migration from California, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois to Republican-run states such as Texas and Florida, which offer lower taxes and a better business climate. In addition to losing Oracle, Charles Schwab, Hewlett Packard, and Elon Musk, for the first time in its history California is expected to lose a congressional seat in the upcoming decennial census allocation, due to stagnating population. Texas is expected to gain three seats, and Florida is expected to pick up two.

  1. We have been overrun by Californians and other blue staters in Colorado. Colorado has been loved to death. The worst part is that they're so effin' snotty about it.

    1. My sympathies. We have the same Fing problem here in Oregon. The number of residents born out of state surpassed those born in-state (for what that was worth anyway) in 1986.
I lived in CO 1972-1979 and when I got there, there already were bumperstickers saying Don't Californicate Colorado. I guess the Californicatians didn't get the memo.

  4. You can pretty much go with "Republicans are clueless."

Every time it gets announced that a blue city/state/region is losing population and red/cities/states/regions are gaining population, most of the Right laughs and cheers and then wonder why their city/state/region, which is growing rapidly, is also turning purple to blue.

  5. Hey WC
I notice that when I reply the usual goog notice has a new banner saying that my comment is awaiting review, not your usual " I'll get to it when I catch up" remark.
Also, when I'm on desktop, my hardrive screams as I load the next story, and Firefox has a dropdown telling me so. I figure your site is in the crosshairs.
I don't like this gogl review stuff.

    1. Find a better browser. And Firefox is not better. Go figure it out.

    2. I'm just getting acquainted with Dissenter. It's a fork off of Brave.

    3. Not only is Firefox notoriously slow and a resource hog, Mozilla has gone fully woke. I've switched to Brave browser. So far so good.

  6. I read this piece elsewhere earlier. He lives in Blount County, Tennessee and apparently in Maryville, the county seat. It's my wife's hometown. We lived there from '04 to '11 when we moved back to Georgia to be near our son. I had said at the time that they were twenty years behind Georgia in Blueness but apparently they're coming up fast. Maryville was the best place I ever lived and it breaks my heart to see that they are becoming woke.
I read only recently that the Blount County mayor was resisting pressure to implement a mask mandate. He had gathered statistics from other East Tennessee counties, with and without mandates. The numbers showed that there was little difference in several measures of Covid seriousness between the masked counties and unmasked. I felt at the time that that was the Maryville I knew.

    1. I believe what it is going to take is in historical red counties that are turning purple, the conservatives are going to have to gather into groups and go visiting the commies. The commies must be told to conform to the will of the conservatives, move out or suffer the consequences. It worked in Kansas back in the 1860's.

  9. So I have to ask the question, are the likes of Elon Musk and Larry Ellison looking to escape the more hostile Kalifornia business climate? Or they more interested in turning powerful Red States into more Blue States? Clearly there's a master plan.
