SpecOps Colonel Arrested in Police Standoff Was Subject of Toxic Command Climate Investigation

A Green Beret colonel who was arrested after an armed standoff with police in late December was also the subject of an Inspector General complaint alleging he was abusive to his staff at work.

Army Col. Owen G. Ray was released from custody Monday on $1 million bail, according to the Pierce County jail website, after being arrested Dec. 27 on charges ranging from kidnapping family members and assault to threatening police with a firearm at his home near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

  1. Maybe I was lucky or as dumb as Hell Cav Trooper. But when I was in the Army, sure there were some real challenging types that held a commission that I served with. But there was nothing like these folks. So does anybody out there got any ideas on what has happened to our Officers Corp? Just asking for a Friend

  2. Could the Obama "pruning" of the military command structure have anything to do with it? So that the vector of future (now present day) military momentum would favor types that adhere to fellow traveller adjacent behaviors, weaknesses, etc? So that those left in their command wouldn't mind towing the new line, ala the selective retiring of journalists with even a shred of ethics for the present day crop of college journalism/comms majors who hyperventilate every time they mention 45? Just throwing in my 2 pesos, ymmv.
