Well, it was a Day of Mourning

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A Tennessee mayor has stirred debate for lowering the American flag to half-staff on the day of President Joe Biden's inauguration.

  1. Hey ... at least he didn't fly the flag with the "field" pointing down ...

    1. I believe I've heard that is an old nautical signal that the vessel was in distress. In that sense, it is very appropriate. We are in a state of extreme distress. I see "seattleTimes" there, so I am going to guess they are trying to be disrespectful, but the irony is classic.

    2. It is a sign of dire distress to life or property and, there is no law that says it cannot be flown upside down. The flag code does however say not to except for the reason given above. So, yes, we all should be flying our flags upside down from here on out.

    1. I ran up my skull and cross bone pirate flag. Time for the black flag and slitting throats.

  4. I'm flying mine upside down at half mast until the usurpers are arrested and thrown out of office.

  5. Mine has been upside down since the sham inauguration.
Takeover by communists = dire and life threatening conditions IMHO.

  6. Flew mine at half mast during the "inauguration" and then flipped it to the correct view with my Gadsden flag underneath.

  7. Mine was upside-down during the ;installation'. I took all my flags down the day after, and won't fly any again for at least four years, other that the POW/MIA flag on Fridays. And I'm the flag 'cop' in my little town.

  8. From time to time the unincorporated village of Florissant, Colorado will have an election for mayor. Sometimes a dog wins, other times a mule or even a donkey wins. I'm guessing that whoever is in charge there now would have done the same thing with their flag.
