NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Tennessee lawmakers have filed legislation which would allow fathers of an unborn child to petition the court if the mother of their child is planning an abortion.
How about the Biblical punishment for murder, then. Nearest blood kin executes the murderer. Mind you, adultery also earned the death penalty, so how about ya stop da fornication, huh folks?
Odd how if an unmarried woman decides to have an abortion it's her body, her decision. Yet if she decides to have the baby the fathers money is her money for 18 years. It's a win win, for the woman.
Wow. Now this really opens up an interesting situation. Are they suggesting that a man could legally force a woman he (allegedly) impregnated to carry the child to term against her wishes? Think about that for a second...
Why not, a woman can legally force a man who (allegedly) impregnated her to pay tribute for 18-24 years (depending on the state), for the privilege of carrying it to term now.
If a man has no choice but to fall back on the protection of the law to rescue his unborn child, I'd think inherent with that should be automatic loss of maternal parenting rights.
If she wants an abortion, clearly she doesn't want the child. Don't give her a financial bludgeon to use against the father for the next 18 years to use as revenge against him for forcing her to not murder her child.
Let's say the couple in question are White. She fooled around and cheated, got preggo and decided to have an abortion. The White boyfriend doesn't know she fucked around on him and thinks it's his baby, fights for it in court. The court works something out with the mother and awards full custody to the dad. Mother has birth and hospital turns black baby over to White "father". YEEHAAA
This is good. If the presumed Father wants to raise the child that is his right. There was a case in Johnson County Ks. where the father did not know that he was a Father until after the baby had been born and adopted. He wanted his child and went to court to that end. The Judge had to take the child away from the people that had adopted it and give the child to its biolgical father. Think of the heartbreak all around here. When we adopted our daughter our Attorney told us about this case as explaniation why this Judge Makes you go to great efforts to fine a man that was the presumed sperm donor.
I hope that legislation also includes automatic wage garnishment until the child is 18.
