Had that happen back in 1990 at a scrap yard in Marion Ohio. The manager wanted to give me $200 and have his welder weld my bedside back on . In small claims court his lawyer met me with a nice fat check before court started . I had suspicions when the crane operator took a drink from a bottle of whiskey before he started up the old crane.
That operator is pretty good, fast controlled movement. I seen several trucks destroyed in the Wyoming oilfields, roadkilled by big 651 Cat scrapers. (20,000 to 25,000 dollars-60,000 in today's dollars) destroyed in 10 seconds. We started a book on a hated surveyor foreman, everybody was rooting for the scrapers. Dumb ass kept parking right behind the huge scrapers, operators didn't even know he was there. Killed two brand new pickups, just couldn't close the deal on him, nobody took the book.
Hope the truck still works but I'm guessing it is a "work truck" and they don't care much for the scratches.
