The pandemic lockdown is being cited as one of the causes of a spike in gun violence in Philadelphia. This came as part of a new study published last week by Temple University, which showed an increase in gun violence rates after pandemic lockdown measures were put in place in March.
The main cause of gun violence in Philadelphia is the people who live there.
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe Mummers.
Not one of the “studies” that I’ve seen tabulates how many shootings are the result of someone stopping a crime, such as a mugging, robbery, car jacking, or rape. They do not show justifiable use of a firearm.

They don’t show justified use of a firearm because to them, there isn’t any.
DeleteNothing to do with defunding the police or demonizing them so they are afraid to do their jobs huh?
ReplyDeleteIf Philly is on lockdown what the hell are people doing out on the streets? If people are in fact staying home, the violent crimes rate SHOULD be going down. Well, except for the usual feral animals, of which Philly has more than their fair share.

Classy.
ReplyDeleteWe had a guy at our jobsite get cut in half this fall. Not that it would have saved him, but a safety feature on his equipment didn't alert everyone. Management went into hardcore CYA mode. The shiny-booted khaki wearing MFer who came from home office actually out loud said that with everything going on in the world today, "Really, it was the Covid that killed him. He let himself get distracted."
