SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California prison officials wanted to shield inmates from the coronavirus at one facility by transferring them to another but instead unleashed a “public health disaster" that led to thousands of prisoners being infected and 28 dying, along with a correctional officer, the state inspector general said Monday.
Since the whole approach to dealing with the Chinese virus has been about isolating people, can anyone suggest a better isolation bubble than an effing prison? How difficult can it be to prevent prison inmates from coming into contact with the outside world?
ReplyDeleteProbably a bunch of lawyers visiting prisons explaining the inmates the benefits of fat lawsuits when they get sick.
ReplyDeleteEach population was a fairly isolate community, with limited access\egress (hopefully!) and some what had a local herd immunity. Not so much when mixed together.

ReplyDeleteDisciplinary action characterized by transferring inmates for days/weeks, in a diaper to eliminate 'comfort stops', tranked by untrained personnel, black-out hoods, often returning to originating facility.
Shackles are shortened by twisting so the inmate is in a 'crouch' position for the duration of the trip.
