Gallup survey published last week reveals that LGBT identification among Americans has grown, increasing to 5.6 percent of the population from 4.5 percent in Gallup’s previous update in 2017.
But LGBT identification across groups is not constant, with liberals, young people, and women skewing more heavily towards LGBT identity.
Given that businesses, schools, the gummint, etc., now reward people for claiming LGBTQWERTY status - regardless of whether or not they actually practice it - it makes a degree of sense to say you are.
If someone admits the truth that they are just too ugly or obnoxious to get laid, it comes with mockery. But if they claim to be "asexual," that comes with a diversity hire and easier promotion.
Alfred Kinsey apparently [1] claimed that 10% of the population was homosexual. Americans seem to think that was an underestimate, per this 2019 Gallup poll.
So the question is, is this recent increase because more people are coming out of the closet, or because it's become fashionable to be LGBTQ+)? In today's culture, obviously victimhood is a key way to get ahead. This is what happens when you let professional victims get into key positions of power and influence, but you all knew that already. Anyway, there was a great YouTube comment the other day:
When victimhood is currency, there will be lots of counterfeiters.
