NASHVILLE, Tenn.--New data published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows Tennessee and Kentucky are among states with the shortest life expectancy in the nation.
These people drink Mt. Dew for breakfast. One of those, "Don't talk ta me til I had my Mt. Dew." Then drink it all day long. I think consuming and type of soda in this fashion would kill you. I can't stand any of it myself. I will on very rare occasion drink a root beer.
Diet Dr. Pepper is about the nastiest shit I've been exposed to....reminds me of battery acid. I had a boss once who was addicted to it; required a case on ice for his "visits". But I think smoking and lack of health care are big reasons for the short lifespans.
No soda is ever good for you, but a Mt Dew for breakfast isn't really all that much worse than sweet coffee, or than black coffee and a sweet danish. Between strong coffee, strong tea, and soda, the caffeine levels aren't all that different. The sugar might not necessarily be all that different, depending on how you take it. The big difference is the acid. Phosphoric acid harms the body terribly in several different ways. Drinking it daily stops the body from repairing the damage.
Hey, I drink my water straight - no gay flavoring for me! I got into the bottled water habit when I was in California. The water where I lived was just plain nasty tasting.
I’m gonna go with sweet tea and cigs being the reason. I noticed a shit load of obese folks around here and everybody smokes since this used to be big tobacco growing area. But yea, its all ate up with meth in the hollers here too.
You forgot all the fried food. My favorite meal at our local diner is fried catfish, fried okra, fried squash and fried green tomatoes. Lucky for my heart, we only go out once a month.
Alrighty then, I gave in and read the article. Feeling dumber already... 1. An article about US life expectancy features an image of a UK mortician. 2. Mortician is all alone doing light carpentry. Mask is still obligatory. 3. Data quoted might be most recent available, but it's still 3 years old. 4. Statistics quoted in the third paragraph are mathematically impossible. There's more but fuck it.
I am sure the meth and oxy don't help either ;^D

ReplyDeleteI drink maybe, just maybe, 3-4 sodas a year. My main drink is water. I don't remember why I got away from sodas many years ago, but I'm glad I did.
DeleteI grew up in a drink from the hose and kool aid house. Never got into the soda my whole life.
DeleteI drank them when I was a youngster, but never to the extent that a lot of people did. I'll admit though, the water I drink nowadays is bottled water.
