Why you don't stand under a tree in a storm

A man died and three were injured on Friday in Gurgaon after lightning struck a tree under which they had been standing to avoid getting drenched in the rain. The horrific incident was caught on a security camera.

  2. As I remember, myself and most people I know were told as children to not do this. Choices, get wet, get a bolt of lightening up your ass. I think he chose the wrong one.

  3. The Merry Mex, Lee Trevino, said if you were out on a golf course and a thunderstorm came up to just hold a 1-iron over your head because, "Nobody, not even God, can hit a 1-iron."

  5. One guy died from a lightening strike on the local links where I used to caddy when I was young. The club installed a supposed lightening proof shelter on every other hole after that. Didn't help. Another guy got struck on the way to one of the shelters a couple years later.

  7. You've not lived until you've been in a transmitter shack in a direct lightning strike as it hits the 2,000 ft tower next door.

  8. Yeah, sure, it was stupid, but nobody lives forever, and I can definitely think of worse ways to go.
