NYT Columnist: Cartoon Skunk Pepé Le Pew Perpetuates Rape Culture

Advocating the banishment of six Dr. Seuss books for apparent racial imagery, New York Times columnist Charles M. Blow also complained about a cartoon skunk named Pepé Le Pew for supposedly perpetuating rape culture.

“As a child, I was led to believe that Blackness was inferior. And I was not alone. The Black society into which I was born was riddled with these beliefs,” Blow wrote in a Times column published Wednesday. “It happened for children in the most inconspicuous of ways: It was relayed through toys and dolls, cartoons and children’s shows, fairy tales and children’s books.”

  1. Never mind that Pepe Le Pew was/is a romancer and not a rapist. I get the idea that this dick is actually offended by the idea that a male character should be pursuing romance with a female character, rather than another male. (I mean, come on - with a name like Charles Blow?...)

  2. This columnist reminds me of the columnists from my youth that cried out against songs like "Puff the Magic Dragon" because they allegedly contained drug related lyrics. The claim was that the "bits of string and sealing wax" listed in the lyrics were "the paraphernalia of junkies". As Paul Stookey said, this is simply sloppy research. I was also treated to repeated lectures about the evils of Rock and Roll music. "That ain't music boy, that's just satan tryin' ta gitchee. You play them records backerds and you can hear 'em callin' the devil. That preacher done said so and that man's a God called preacher!" The columnist and the preacher, both then and now, don't care about the truth, the just want more fame and more money.

  3. You'll have to excuse Charles M. Blow. He also thought Wiley Coyote should be emulated. He suffers from extensive brain damage due to multiple anvil, dynamite, and cliff mishaps.

  4. Trump canceled ISIS.

Biden canceled Dr Seuss, Mr Potato Head, Pepi Le Pew and true women's sports.

    I rest my case.

  5. So, when you're inferior, you become a columnist for the NYT?

  6. Look for a problem and you will find it; even if it's not really there. Pepe is black AND white and only a cartoon making fun.

  7. All my life I have been colourblind. I have however, always had a problem with Labour voters who always blamed the government, the capitalists, or anyone but themselves for their failures in life. Now that the race hustlers have decided to make race such a big issue, I'm left thinking, why is it that black people are less successful on average than every other race on the planet? Is it because they are being held back by prejudiced white racists?

  9. Then what about rap? All these black scumbags that talk about hoes and bitches? Pepe Le Pew never raped, drugged, impregnated a female. He also never pulled a gun on anyone, got in a high-speed chase with cops, never had a child he wasn't involved with, as said child turned out to be a POS just like good ol dad. Did he?? No. But, instead of actually confronting REAL problems, this fuckhead thinks cartoons are the problem. Again, what irresponsible assholes do...blame anyone, even a fuckin cartoon, instead of blaming the asshole in the mirror.
