An Illinois state senator who sponsored recently-signed legislation that will eliminate cash bail in the state by 2023 is outraged that a man who allegedly flashed a gun at him while driving only had to post $1,500 to get out of jail.
“By him being released on bail, he’s free to do this again,” Sen. Elgie Sims of Chicago told the State-Journal Register.

"It’s not clear why Sims believes a person like Hoyle should be jailed until trial — away from their families, unable to maintain employment or provide support — while accused of a non-violent crime."
ReplyDeleteSeems the newspaper doesn't care for the esteemed Senator Sims.
Peasants should not be permitted to harass the nobility! Off with his head!
ReplyDelete- Sen. Elgie Sims
You can eliminate cash bail easy. Just keep the assholes in jail.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea, up until some asshole cop decides to make his quota on you. It might take 2 years before your case ever comes to trial. You'll be better of taking the plea deal and avoiding the whole thing.
DeleteWe can eliminate a lot of bail situations by eliminating a lot of 'laws'.
ReplyDeleteAn aside:
* based on the reaction of The Honorable Mister Elgie Sims, I honestly truly believe 'flashing a gun' at bureaucrats should be a requirement for voting, or operating a vehicle, or getting married.
I would defer the requirement for children to participate in school until the third grade... or recess, whichever comes first.
Inside every new conservative is a liberal who got mugged.
ReplyDelete1000% truth. When the mugging happens to them suddenly they see the light (not really the truth is the libs believe all that happy stupid elitist bullshit like people are kind and I'm a lib so they won't rape/rob/murder me)
