Our 'storms' last night

Yesterday I posted about the storms that were supposed to hit us last night. They didn't happen - not in Macon County, anyway. We got some rain, a little lightning and thunder in the distance, and no wind to speak of. I was keeping an eye on the weather through radar sites, and at one point I checked in with a Facebook group I belong to called Macon County Preparedness because the admin of the group is usually right on top of shit like this, and saw where he'd posted about a tornado that touched down briefly in Sumner County. Well, my in-laws live in Portland, about 35 miles due west, which is in Sumner County, so I called to check on them right before dusk. They told us they'd had heavy winds, thunder and lightning and large hail, then they asked how things were out our way. As they're asking, I'm looking out the window and seeing birds feeding on the ground and the wind barely moving the blossoms around on the Bradford Pear tree in the backyard. We did come under a tornado warning for about an hour around 8 PM, with the weather radio saying there was a strong probability of tornados hitting Macon County, but even those were expected to move to the east of us. I got bored about 9:30 and went to bed.
