It is not haraam (forbidden) for a man to urinate standing up, but it is Sunnah (recommended) for him to urinate sitting down, because Aisha[1] said: “Whoever tells you that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to urinate standing up, do not believe him. He only ever used to urinate sitting down.”
Who is Aisha to talk about how the Prophet (PBUH) used to piss, you ask? Wiki tells us:
Aisha was born 613 or early 614. She was the daughter of Umm Ruman and Abu Bakr of Mecca, two of Muhammad's most trusted companions. [...] Sahih al-Bukhari's hadith says "that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old.
