As the House of Representatives considers the “George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021” this week, the bill’s proponents rightly decry pernicious stereotyping and generalizing based on race.
Yet many of those who rightly condemn such dangerous biases, and the lies they are built upon, make misleading claims of their own to advance another reckless bigotry — anti-police bias.
And not putting the police back on the leash makes us all less safe. Cops in the US are out of control. They lie, torture, and kill without any serious oversight.
ReplyDeleteDefine "back on the leash".
DeleteMaybe in the U.S. of your alternate reality. The problem you are describing here involves less than a fraction of 1% of the police officers in the country. You're making it sound like Dodge City in a bad Western movie or the Chicago cops in one of those old film noir movies.
Delete@DCE: "The problem you are describing here involves less than a fraction of 1% of the police officers in the country."
DeleteOk, if it is such a small amount, why haven't they been identified and cashiered? If it is known how few there are, then it should also be pretty clear exactly which ones are the bad ones.
It's a lot like the stuff in the runaway CEO days of the early 2000s. We were told that only 1% of companies had CEOs who were using fraud as a business model. Either the government was pulling the number out of thin air (meaning they had no idea how extensive the problem was) or they knew which CEOs were doing it, and weren't acting on that information.
I've been thinking lately....if everyone wore a mask as a daily piece of clothing, and every day, people in purple masks were killing each other at high rates, and 50% of murders were committed by people wearing purple masks...would the media just report crimes as being done by a 'person in a mask'? Would police shootings of people wearing purple masks be maligned as prejudice against purple mask wearers? Or would we start celebrating them as some type of hero, maligned against disproportionately?
ReplyDeleteI suppose it depends if the purple mask wearers were committing the majority of crimes.
DeleteThere are two groups that kill indiscriminately that’d be Orks and blacks.
ReplyDeleteOh and that African American shit, sorry but you can’t be both. You are either an American or an African. it’s like genders, sorry for you nut jobs but God only made two models. If you are so F-ed in the head, pull your pants down and look whats between your legs. There is your answer.
Facts, because they matter.
Seems it all started when "The police acted stupidly" simply by doing their jobs.
ReplyDeleteAnother ill of society we can place on obama's and the democrats doorstep.
It started well before that you dolt.
DeleteStop parroting the bullshit.
Use your fucking brain.
D or R makes no difference, they are both pulling for team C(ommunist)
I'm glad the supporters of the George Floyd bill don't let the true statistics get in the way of a good story. :/ (sarc)
ReplyDeletePolice lie like breathing.
ReplyDeleteIt would be surprising to hear the truth just once from these Highway Men
