Sonoma County Police Officers Accused Of Extorting Cash, Marijuana From Drivers

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (AP/CBS13) — Two former Sonoma County police officers face extortion charges for allegedly pulling over motorists on Highway 101 and taking their marijuana and money under threat of arrest, federal prosecutors said.

That area's always been a pipeline for running weed from Mendocino and Humboldt counties down to Central and Southern California. It was almost like running a gauntlet taking that route.
Don't ask me how I know.

  1. In that case one could probably assume that you know lots of the backroads around there?

    1. Yeah, most of the backroads, but the best routes to take were State highways. As long as you stayed off of I-5, 101, and Hwy 1, you'd be fine.

    2. Well, that means you did an awful lot of zigging and zagging between Willits and Modesto.

    3. Yeah, I generally added an extra hour or two to my 3 hour trip. No biggie, trading 2 hours on the road for 10 years in the joint was a pretty good deal.

  2. Put them in general population.

  3. my personal favorite was hwy 20 as it skirts Clearlake. beautiful countryside. I lived in eureka for awhile, and learned one very important lesson about backroads in 'Plantation' country. taking a wrong turn and ending up somewhere that you arent known can be hazardous.

    1. Yup, I've always enjoyed that stretch.
And you're right, don't be taking back roads you're not familiar with.

  4. None of this is a surprise, Rohnert Park is a pluperfect shithole.I got stuck living in a trailer park there for a few years around 2005, and despite having lived all around the country including in Chicago and Oakland, it's the most corrupt town I've ever seen.

The City Council is a rotating cast of lawyers and real estate slicksters who've been trading the seats back and forth among each other for decades. Twenty years ago, without consulting the citizenry, they installed an "Indian" casino after making a deal with the "tribe" - a legal fiction created as a rider on a bill sponsored by Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, and Nancy Pelosi in the year 2000. Included in the deal to grant tribal status to the "Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria" was a stipulation that the "tribe" would not engage in gambling activities. The Graton Resort and Casino opened in 2013.

The tribe's lawyers include the sons of Boxer and Pelosi. Feinstein was deeply involved in the multi-million dollar land purchase for the site, and the tribe's partners, a Las Vegas casino company, bought up several acres of land immediately adjacent to the new casino on the (accurate) assumption that this virtual swampland would appreciate in value.

    2. Sounds like DiFi's hubby Richard Blum (Chairman, CBRE real estate) got another sweet deal out of that one.
If you ever want to know how filthy dirty she is, read his Wikipedia's 'Controversy' section sometime. He/they are crooked as a dog's hind leg.
