Pretty sure it’s a Gm6 lynx Only long action I’ve handled was a model 8. Doesn’t so much kick as it does shove. Sort of more gentle than a locked action, but it does a lot of rocking and rolling so don’t expect to drop the crosshairs back where you started.
I think you may have answered your own question? The long recoil and progressive spring rate in the mechanism distributes the recoil force and diffuses it over a longer time, softening the felt impact.
It is a GM6 Lynx. Review I just watched said the recoil is quite manageable. Showed a guy of about 160 lbs shoot it free hand. Looked comparable to a 12 gauge recoil.
And, of course, everyone down range needs only to look at the giant dust cloud to see exactly where the shot came from--and exactly where the shooter is.
It is a GM6 Lynx. From the importer's website... "GM6 Lynx $14,750.00
Product Info & Specs
The GM6 ‘Lynx’ is a semi-automatic anti-material rifle. The rifle was designed to be compact, lightweight, accurate, low-recoil, portable and easily deployable for immediate use. Most rifles chambered in .50 BMG are heavy, long, bulky, heavily recoiling and are of a slowly operated bolt action. Many not even magazine fed.
Due to the bullpup configuration, most of the weight is re-distributed to the rear of the rifle allowing for the possibility of off hand firing. This is near impossible with most other .50 BMG rifles. Thanks to the unique barrel recoil technology, the rifle’s recoil is less than the other rifles in the same category. This design also allows the rifle to be transported at a length of only 915mm/36.5″. It weighs just 25lbs, with a slight rear bias weight distribution. Assembled with match grade barrels, capable of sub-MOA accuracy with match grade ammunition.
Comes with spare magazine, pair of 34mm 50 BMG scope rings, spare barrel spring, bi-pod, cleaning kit, Pelican 1750 hard case and manual."
Long recoil doesn't kick hard. That myth comes from people not setting up old Browning Auto 5s (and their copies like Remington Model 11s) properly and not changing out worn out recoil springs.
I've got a Remington M11. Recoil is as manageable as it gets with a 12 gauge. I've even used it to teach kids to shoot trap. It's every bit as smooth as my Versa Max. But IMO a better shooter.
#1. At least 10 seconds between firings. Towed artillery crew can get off at least four rounds in that time. #10. Blast debris kind of gives away the shooter's position.
#1 now I've never been part of a large caliber gun crew, but it seems to me that I've seen vids of some firing and what I witnessed in #1 is taking about twice as long as human loaders would. That's "improvement"?
OK, I had to go see if I was correct before I posted this. That thing is taking 3-4 times as long as a human crew would.

I've been thinking about getting a .50BMG rifle, but from what I've been reading the fraudulent administration is going to outlaw .50 caliber completely when they get the chance.
#10, is that a Barrett .50 cal?
ReplyDeleteWhatever it is, it's also long recoil. I wonder why they decided to use that system? Those things kick hard enough as it is.

To lessen the felt recoil.

DeleteI thought long recoil helped reduce felt recoil.
DeleteBA50 kicks slightly less than a .308, but it also had a hand size muzzle break and was bolt action.

My Barrett 99 is a bullpup design. I've got video of him shooting it offhand at 13yrs old.
