They have a Stock Dog Competition at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo every year. Once you are in the fair grounds the Stock Dog part is free, unlike the Rodeo. It's in a separate arena than the Rodeo and I go watch it every year. The thing about is that it looks like the dogs are having a good time.
The same thing goes at the San Antonio Stock Show and rodeo, but it ain't free. By the time you pay for parking, gate admission and maybe some refreshment ya got $100 spent.
The guy in the first video has a website. His dogs are all registered Border Collies. The dogs in the second video are a mish-mash. One, Tuck, looks like your classic Border Collie. The one with the ears sticking straight up I suspect has some Kelpie in it, though that's just a guess. The other two might be BC's, but who knows?
A lot of people who breed working dogs don't worry about breeds so much as performance and temperament. McNabs are a great example of that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McNab_dog

ReplyDeleteIt's literally what they live for and were born to do, that's for sure.

DeleteThat's just fucking amazing! Good dogs!
ReplyDeleteThose dogs are worth their weight in gold to a cattleman. Anyone know the actual breed, or are they a mixed breed
ReplyDeleteBorder Collies and close cousins. Like sled dog Malamutes and Huskies, they live for their jobs, and tend to go berserk if they aren't able to work.
