The singer, who has struggled with drugs and alcohol, has been opening up about a variety of issues recently, including her sexuality, weight loss and near-fatal overdose in 2018.
Now in recovery, she was asked by CBS Sunday Morning whether she was trying moderation — still drinking and “smoking a little bit of weed” — and Lovato agreed that was the case.

As one who has kicked tobacco, and alcohol, and marijuana (yes, marijuana DOES have a withdrawal to it) I'm here to tell you there's no such thing as 'only using socially' for the addict. It's all or nothing because once you take that first drink the barriers are down, the restraints are off. That first drink makes it a whole lot easier to take the second and then the third, aaaaand you're off to the races. It does.not.work. She's gonna be right back in rehab in a year...or dead. And for anybody out there smoking weed and struggling with depression - drop the weed. Marijuana has a boomerang effect on depression. You feel a little better when you're smoking but when you stop the shit really hits the fan and, at least for me, it can be pretty nasty.
ReplyDeleteI quit smoking weed several times in my life, going from an ounce of good quality bud a week to nothing, and never felt any ill effects or withdrawals whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, I'm back. Yeah, and I had too. Up until two years ago I insisted that weed has no withdrawal because it didn't faze me when I stopped. But, after smoking White Widow every day, all day long (I'm retired) for a year and then stopping when I ran out I went through two really tough days trying to figure out a way to end it all without a lot of pain. I think this is really an issue for those struggling with depression, otherwise it's no big deal.
