Commentary: The ‘Insurrection’ Probe is Falling Apart

He is known as the “zip tie guy.”

In one of the most iconic photographs of the January 6 Capitol melee, Eric Munchel, wearing tactical gear, is seen holding up a fistful of zip ties in the Senate gallery. Munchel, the media quickly concluded, brought the flex cuffs to arrest lawmakers attempting to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. The woman photographed with him later was identified as his mother, Lisa Eisenhart.

The top federal prosecutor who handled the first two months of the Justice Department’s Capitol breach probe recently bragged that Munchel was one of the first protestors targeted in the agency’s unprecedented 50-state manhunt for alleged “insurrectionists.”

  2. I would take these officious clowns more seriously if they showed the same sanctimonious blood lust for the arson, assaults, attempted murders and looting shown by Antifa and BLM rioters over the summer. Most of them were released on their own recognizance or released without charges.

If this is about "the rule of law", apply it equally. Hypocrisy is not justice.

    1. 1) Can you afford a competent lawyer to represent you in a jury trial? If no, you're stuck with a P.D., so good luck. If yes, you'll be in the poor house, win or lose.

      2) If you opt for a jury trial, you'll get hit with every charge that they can come up with, so you'll face *a lot* more time, and quite likely, the jury will convict on something.

      3) Federal prosecutors don't lose many cases - the amount of resources that the Feds can bring will overwhelm almost any defendant.

    2. "Federal prosecutors don't lose many cases" because they withhold exculpatory evidence in many of their cases.

There's a story floating around out there on the interwebs, today, about a FL guy who was wrongly convicted of convicted of murder, has served 30 years, had the conviction OVERTURNED a month ago, AND WAS STILL IN JAIL as of yesterday.

Federal prosecutors are as or more corrupt than the average state prosecutor. The problem with federal prosecutors and some state prosecutors is that when they get caught lying or obstructing or withholding they are NEVER disciplined.

As an example, look at all of the lies that were told and verified with affidavits to a FEDERAL COURT during the Russia hoax. None, I repeat NONE of the guilty parties have served ONE DAY IN PRISON and never will.

The Justice system in the USA is broken and has been for a long, Long, LONG time. I don't have a clue how to fix it, except to burn it all down, root and branch and start anew.
