Seriously, we laugh at the picture, but... do you know or talk to anyone in fast food? Do you eat at places like that? Staffing has always been a problem at those places, but this will be the push that brings $15/min into being. The restaurants literally CAN'T GET PEOPLE TO COME INTO WORK. Freemarket labor argues raise the wage, but the real problem is all the handouts and freebies. Between stimulus money (where they give you a portion of your own tax money back to you), welfare and entitlement extensions, kids living with parents until they are 45, and the general de-mascilinization of the species, nobodys going to flip your cheeseburger. You'll get hard up whyte pee-po working a second job, because inflation is stealing away their lives savings, work, and worth.
I’ve worked with Brits for years. Slang can get you in trouble. For instance, fanny means backside in America, but for the Brits, it’s somewhat sort of equivalent to the c-word.
and the big challenge is to keep them from stealing it from you. Once digital money arrives any notion of personal wealth will be but a memory-other than for the ultra-rich and crooked politicians.
Back in about 2012 shortly before I retired I had to hire a few guys for shop work . Hard , physical , heavy lifting work . I had two ex-Wendys execs come in dressed in suit and tie with brief cases and pretty pink un-scarred hands . They said after Dave died the kids hired a new fresh college girl to run things . First thing she did was call in all the old execs that built the company . If you had ten years or more seniority , you were gone . I never ate there since .
The manager must be a real dickhead....wages coupled with an asshat to work for will wipe out labor in a heartbeat....seems he coulda' got a few to stay with a buck raise....just sayin'....
I haven't eaten fast food of any kind in hell thirty years maybe more. I'm glad it's closed cuz the stench from those places turns my stomach. Smells like a carnival midway. Can't say I'm glad why it's closed though.

Where I worked the manager in charge of the accounts office was a complete bellend. Once all his staff all quit on the same day.
ReplyDelete"bellend" One of the benefits of this website is the chance to learn the slang I missed out on in my misspent youth.
DeleteYup, it was a new one for me too. I had to google it.

Delete“Fuck it. I quit. All I wanna know is whose coming with me.”
ReplyDeleteI guess the old adage: "Thy rod and thy staff shall comfort you" might need revising.
ReplyDelete“I don’t want to work I just want to bang on the drum all day”
ReplyDeleteAnd we wonder why we have a work ethic issue in this country
I am sitting comfortably now because of the hard work I did long ago. Did I dream of this? Hell no I was too busy. I awoke one day and I was old.

ReplyDeleteMost people don't quit jobs; they quit managers.
