Elizabeth City’s mayor declared a state of emergency ahead of the release of the bodycam video

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WNCN/WAVY) – The family of Andrew Brown Jr. said they still haven’t seen the bodycam video of the fatal deputy-involved shooting from last week.

Attorneys for the family said Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten would allow them to view the video at 11:30 a.m.

At 11:30 a.m., the family said they still haven’t been given that opportunity.

Harry Daniels, an attorney for the Brown family, said county attorney Mike Cox emailed him at 10:26 a.m. saying redactions needed to be made to the video and it might not be done Monday.

Earlier Monday, Elizabeth City’s mayor declared a state of emergency ahead of the release of the bodycam video.
