Hundreds protest in Knoxville after DA says no charges for officers in shooting at school

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Hundreds protests in Knoxville Thursday night as the District Attorney announced officers involved in a deadly shooting at Austin East Magnet High School wouldn't be charged, according to WBIR.

The local outlet reports 200 people gathered in front of Knoxville Police Department chanting things like "no justice, no peace" and eventually made their way to the campus at the University of Tennessee.

  4. If I was a cop, I'd have turned my badge in months ago. I'm surprised more haven't.

    2. Don't worry, they are being replaced with social workers. Once those are all killed by thugs they'll be replaced by democrat congressmen, and once those are all killed by thugs we'll have a big party and go after the thugs (not congress, they're already gone by then).

  5. Anthony J. Thompson Jr had a gun, he went for it. WTF were they expecting the cops to do? Give him a couple of freebies?

    1. I understand Ant-man fired first, wounding a cop.

  6. Knox area resident here (Roane county, actually):
Its a joke, the media is gaslighting again. NOBODY here (greater metro area) cares. Everyone rolls their eyes when it comes up. Austin-East, the school where it happened, is in da hood (errr, what passes for it here). Theres a constant stream of hookers, pimps, drugs, and guns coming from that one area of town, they've had several shootings there already this year (student on student).
SO, they wail and gnash their teeth "won't someone thonk of the children!!!"
Increased police presence. Man with gun seen roaming halls on security camera. Cops corral suspect in bathroom. Suspect pulls gun out....

Why does anyone expect anything different than what happened in this situation?

I'll give you a hint: normal people don't.

Stop listening to this bullshit. When someone starts up about it, you tell them "I'm glad they shot that Son of a Bitch!" He was there, at school, on campus, with a gun, for one reason only. What those cops did, is WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN! Dumbasses would either self depopulate the problem, or learn not to bring a glock to school. Either way, problem solved!

  7. As a Knox County resident, I had a ring-side seat to all this coverage and watched most of the 2-hour presentation the DA gave. It was clear that the perp was a ne're-do-well from the outset...school security cameras showed him ALL DAY strolling the halls and hanging out in a stairwell, leaving the campus, coming back to campus.. everywhere EXCEPT IN AN ACTUAL CLASS. He was apparently majoring in Hanging Out 101. The cops went there to arrest him on a "domestic violence" charge and did not know he was armed at the time.... but when he was cornered in a bathroom, he went for a gun (a Glock 9mm) hidden in his hoodie pocket, and he managed to get off one shot...at a garbage can...and an officer shot him before he could pull out the gun and do real damage.

So you have to go to first causes, or root causes. He had a gun at school. Period. He tried to use the gun and actually fired a panicked shot. Period. All other considerations are moot, he set himself up to be killed. Period.

    1. I figured that was pretty much the scenario, else Revrum Al would have been down there like a shot.

So if Ant-man only got off one shot and wounded a trash can, how did the officer get shot?

But to tell the truth, once I found out it wasn't at Farragut HS,(where my grandsons go) my interest in the matter faded.
