Sammy Hagar 1983 Live from The Checkerdome St Louis Mo.
This was Hagar's 3'rd (79/82) Concert Broadcast Nation Wide on FM Radio live from St Louis. This show was also recorded for an MTV Concert which was broadcast later on in 83. The Three Lock Box Tour.
I spent many of my hard earned dollars going to the Checkerdome. The big acts would play there. The only place bigger was Busch stadium (outdoors). I got to see them blow it up around 95 or 96. It had been built for the 1904 Worlds Fair for the equestrian events and then was home to the St Louis Blues. Buddha
I saw him play in the 1979 Texas World Music festival, aka the Texxas Jam, in the Cotton Bowl. Pre-MTV. Just the hardest slamminest guitar playing around. The man can play that thing.
1979-89, I owned a restaurant business in Chico, California.
Probably around 1980, Sammy performed a free acoustic concert in a Chico park. Highlight was the band and crew packing-up while Sammy sat on the edge of the platform doing a solo CAN'T DRIVE 55. By that point in the day, I bet less than twenty goers remained. He didn't have to do that. I was impressed.
Loved Hagar in Montrose and his solo stuff...hated his Van Hanen stuff.
