Vietnam Loves American Booty; What Did the VPA Do With All The Captured Weapons?

At the end of the Vietnam War the Vietnamese found themselves with a vast stock of captured material. What did they do with it all and what is still in use?

  1. I think they're light on some of their numbers, like the A-1's and C-130's, but I'm not sure my how much.

  2. In addition to massive waste there was plenty of corruption to go around. One story was that a Quartermasters sergeant in Saigon arranged for a large crane to be delivered to an accomplice in the Oakland area. The crane arrived piece-by-piece and was sold on the black market. No one asked questions until after the job was pulled off.

  3. I've still a brass beer mug I bought from Herter's decades ago made in Korea, most likely, probably, from spend 105 howitzer shells.
