Four years after the Legislature boosted the gas tax in order to fix California’s crumbling roads and bridges, the state has spent billions and made some progress in repairs, but officials now say the funding is sufficient only to complete less than half of the work needed.
Okay. I can feel it coming. A ballot proposition written by the politicians to further raise gas taxes again. Complete with an ad campaign showing a union firefighter claiming that if the voters approve of this new increase he'll be able to get to that accident scene quicker on a smooth road and will be able to save more lives. And the idiot voters of California will fall for it and vote to raise their gas tax. Again.
ReplyDeleteI speak from experience. This is exactly what they did the last time. And the union guy they used in their ads was a black Oakland fire captain who was pulling down over $250K a year. He might as well have been saying "Won't you raise your taxes so my pension fund can stay solvent until after I'm dead?", because that would be closer to the truth.
I've not seen any improvement in the roads here in SoCal. You could lose your front-end in some of the potholes and instead of repairing and resurfacing, if we're lucky we get a patch that'll last about a week.

ReplyDeleteAs a former californian , I heard the government say they wouldn't cum in our mouths every 2 to 4 years. They would say that yes, they stole the last has tax hike , but next time will be different.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, they want everyone to switch to electric cars, so the money they won’t collect in gas tax won’t fix the roads, while also causing rolling blackouts because the electric grid cannot handle the demand.
ReplyDeleteFucking libtards.
