A Minnesota judge sentenced Derek Chauvin to 22 1/2 years in prison Friday for the murder of George Floyd — a punishment that exceeds the state's minimum guidelines but falls short of prosecutors' request of a 30-year sentence.
The punishment will include the 199 days Chauvin has already served, Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill said.

What convicted Chauvin was his gross indifference during the 9 minutes and 47 seconds that he knelt on Floyd’s neck and back despite being implored repeatedly by the crowd and Floyd to let him up.
ReplyDeleteHis conviction wasn’t precipitated by rampant violence, threats or any other action in the community. Derrick Chauvin had four excessive use of force complaints on his police record, THAT WE KNOW ABOUT, prior to his fatal encounter with Floyd. He is/was a rogue cop who was allowed to continue in his position by police management.
Typical of rogue cops, he eventually killed someone WITHOUT CAUSE.
He received a just sentence IMHO, same as anyone else convicted of a similar crime and with the displayed disregard for the duty of trust to protect life that is inherent in every officer's oath.
Was George Floyd a low life felon and drug addict? Why yes he was.
However, he did not deserve to be dealt death on the street in Minneapolis that day.
Remember one thing from this incident.
That could be YOU under the neck of the next rogue cop you encounter.
I know that there's a lot of people around the country and here at Knucledraggin' that disagree with what I stated. A lot people feel he was railroaded, not given a "fair trial" and a whole host of other excuses for his blatant disregard for Floyd's predicament.
Those 9 minutes and 47 seconds tell the whole tale of why Derrick Chauvin is going to prison for 22.5 years.
Nemo
I guess you didn't see any of the trial huh?
DeleteI pretty much agree with you, Nemo.
DeleteAt the time of the incident, I watched the video very closely, and told a friend who didn't watch it but asked me what I thought of the incident, that "there aren't any good guys in the video. Floyd was a P.O.S., and so is the cop who showed himself to be a psychopath as exhibited by his total disregard for a life by kneeling arrogantly on that neck.......AFTER the dude was handcuffed and face down on the ground".
Not every story has a good guy and bad guy. Sometimes they are both bad guys......
Is 22.5 years the right sentence? I don't know, but the fucker definitely is not someone I want running loose in my neighborhood with a gun and badge.....

Disclaimer: It's been awhile since I reviewed this stuff, I'm probably getting some terminology wrong.
DeleteWhat about the "excited deranged" call? IIRC, the initial call for help indicated that he was "excited deranged disorder" which basically means high as fuck, and probably on PCP. These are the guys who take five bullets, getting beaten to shit, and still throw people around as if it's nothing. There's no way in fuck that I would have let him up either. He'd already fought with police, resisted arrest, etc. Letting him up would have just invited another altercation.
And something like 90% of "excited deranged" calls end with a dead perp - even if they're brought alive to the ER.
While I agree that policing in general is WAY to violent, I blame the laws. Laws are ALWAYS enforced by violence, therefore more laws always means more violence. Fix the laws and the police violence problem will fix itself.
And that leaves aside the million dollar question: Would Georgie boy have survived his overdose if the police hadn't even been there? Because if the answer is NO, then IT DOESN'T MATTER whether or not who did what, George was dead anyway, and a murder (or any other) conviction is nonsensical. Should more of an effort have been made to get him to the ER to treat is OD? Maybe, maybe not, but either way it's not the police's fault he's dead.
I had my 140 lb wife STAND on my back and neck and I was able to engage in conversation with her the whole time. Chauvin was railroaded. Floyd was drugged out and would have died whether Chauvin kneeled on him or not.
ReplyDeleteI agree, they should have China on trial for poisoning us with gently.
DeleteYep. I heard floyd whining about not.being able to breath WHILE HE WAS SITTING IN HIS CAR. Chauvin has been cheated. I feel sorry for him.
Delete[rocketride]
ReplyDeleteExactly right.
Derrick never gave Floyd the chance to stand in front of a judge. Derrick acted as judge, jury, and executioner that day. Yes Floyd was a POS. Thats not the cops duty, his wast to at least get Floyd to the judge. Derrick is an ORK, He did what orks do. The shitter is look how Derricks actions that fateful day have changed the country and the world. Hey Derrick thank you very fucking little. Now who’s a POS?
ReplyDeleteSaber 7
I guess you think Derrick sold him the dope Flyod ODed on?
DeleteAren’t you special?
DeleteThis pos was dying from drug overdose, not the kneeling.
ReplyDeleteHe was already dead. He just hadn't fallen over yet.
DeleteBoth Chauvin and Floyd are no good pieces of shit, one an over aggressive cop only concerned with making an arrest the other a known thief and drug addict. Two useless assholes that crossed paths that day and fucked up shit for lots of others. Floyd died at the hands of Chauvin that day, Floyd overdosed but Chauvin's total disregard for the situation made him, as a sworn public safety officer, an accomplice in the dead of Floyd that point is obvious to even a blind man........ Over aggressive policing is a problem all over this country, disregard for your rights and the excessive profit departments have due to fines, court costs, and confiscation and sale of your personal property without due process....... As we witnessed the last several years the police are NOT our friend not are they the equal justice for all we were constantly being told they are. That thin blue line isn't for you or me but to protect other dirty cops.... Maybe most cops got into policing to make a difference but that is soon forgotten.
ReplyDeleteDoes Chauvin deserve 22 years, I don't know but considering his list of complaints from the public he served he definitely should have been removed long before any of this happened
JD
Here, I will fix that for you:
Delete* Based on the lists of complaints, george floyd should have been 'removed' long before any of this happened.
.
Next!
Marge, my post needs no fixing, it stands exactly as I want it to. Floyd was not a government official, he was not mandated with public safety and it was not his job to serve in a position of public trust so. That piece of shit Chauvin held all those positions and obviously he was a cop with an attitude looking at the complaints about him from the general public. If you want to kiss up to corrupt cops that's on you, don't associate my post with that shit
DeleteJD
FLoyd was dead before Chauvin ever tried to restrain him. this is a rail road caused by the Democrats and Never Trumpers. When they audits get done things will be a lot different.
ReplyDeleteLiberals worshiping ole George, who is laughing in Hell.
ReplyDeleteA lot of thought provoking comments here. It's part of why I keep coming back. I do believe Floyd had overdosed and likely was in acute congestive heart failure and decompensating, based on the info I have been able able to glean, up to and including the released autopsy results. Doesn't mean I am right, I wasn't at the trial, just what I believe based on info and my experience in dealing with folks with same maladies. That was on Floyd, his actions, as was his history of poor life choices and crime.Someone recognizing that may have avoided the fallout from this episode, but the next one would have been ultimately used towards the same end by the same charlatans. I am also struck by by the thought that yes it could be my neck under the knee of a bad and/or stupid cop (not clear that was the case with Chauvin though), and that thought angers me. Too many cops out there "just following orders" these days. The whole thing, like the rest of our present world, was a shitshow. No winners. That being said, feels like the cop never had a chance at a fair trial given the publicity and the antiwhite racist environment fomented. It aint gonna get better anytime soon, prepare accordingly.
ReplyDeleteMy thinking is time served was the appropriate sentence but the judge is too weak to do what's right. Chauvin will get a new trial along with a change of venue, then we'll see what the real sentence will be. All you guys who are bloodthirsty for Chauvin's head need to realize he was holding down a 350 lb person with real gorilla potential since he was obviously on drugs. I wouldn't have backed off either; he might kill you.
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn’t Chauvin and Floyd, it would have been two other assholes. The commies were looking for any excuse to demonize cops in general and whites more specifically. The sooner folks realize whites are the new Kulaks and the purge is coming, the more likely they are to do something to stop this shit before it gets to the point we’re butchering each other in the streets. Look at what uncle Joe Stalin instigated from 1929 to 1932. Then look up the Holodomar in the Ukrain. And Mao’s Great Leap Forward in the sixties. Read a fucking book or two and see how the clowns divided and conquered, because they are doing it to us right this second. Fuck chauvin and Floyd. They’re just two useful idiots on the path as we March right into the sea. Eod1sg Ret
ReplyDeleteCahill has also denied Chauvin a new trial.
ReplyDeleteThis cop in prison?
That boy's a dead man walking.
A rotating militia watch duty has no need for Chauvin, and no fear of Floyd.
ReplyDeleteWiddle baby pension go bye bye. Sniff, sniff.
It does not matter if Chauvin is or is not guilty in the death of Floyd. The mob demanded that he be found guilty. The got what they wanted; a martyr, the ongoing narrative that all cops are racist and an excuse to riot and loot. There is zero doubt my mind, that if Chauvin had been found innocent there would have been more rioting and civil unrest such as we witnessed last summer or worse.
ReplyDeleteI guess black Privilege has it's upsides. =/
ReplyDeleteHe’s probably a democrat voter. Fuck him.
ReplyDeleteHe’s probably a democrat voter. Fuck him.
ReplyDeleteAny of you who think he should serve 22.5 years make me sick.
ReplyDeleteLook at the facts.
In those 9 minutes. You can see he lets off his neck. Minal pressure to hold.
Floyd was higher than Jesus.
There are many cases where over stimulation and drugs cause death during a wrestle but those cops didn't get fired.
Fentanyl is known to cause trouble breathing in higher than recommended doses.
But hey let's focus on the color of the skin and ignorance of criminals to push forward the socialist agenda.
Democrats assume stupidity of none agenda of the day skin color.
Don't call yourself American if you're protecting a drug addict and putting a cop in prison for answering a call.
There are so many divisive and strong comments on both sides of this story and I'm guessing that none of you were the jurors or attended the trial. With that said, TPTB are indeed dividing and conquering the public and this forum seems to proves that.
ReplyDeleteSo what are we here, sheep ? We can't hold strongly different opinions on a subject matter without wherever tptb is, doing whatever you think it's doing. This country has always had disagreements about most everything, even at the very beginning of whether to fight for freedom or remain subjects ..

You obviously missed my point!
DeleteYou made my point and missed it at he same time....bravo!
DeleteYawn,

If I should ever be in the same position as Derek Chauvin I will:
ReplyDeletea) cuff the hands of the perpetrator
b) take hold of both his ankles and lift them high (to the height of about 90 cm, so that the perpetrator lies flat on the ground.)
And then he can have his excited delirium and enjoy his three times deadly dose of Fentanyl.
Hell, I will even let go of his ankles.
And if someone (like this one lady) tells me to help him, I just tell her: Go ahead. You help him. I wont stop you.
Alex Lund
Right or wrong, Fentanyl Floyd was the contributing factor for the circumstances of what transpired that fateful day. He was a habitual criminal that got what he deserved in the end. RIGHT OR WRONG. Rhetorical.
ReplyDeleteOld testament shit. Falling on your own sword.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see anything that remotely resembled 'falling on your own sword'. Might've missed it, I'm old. Anywho, the arrest of Floyd was fucked up, Floyd was fucked up. Chauvin played his part in the fuck up, his trial was a farce and should have been in a different (more courageous? who knows...) venue... on and on.
ReplyDeleteBut all of these actors have left a fucking shitshow for the rest of us to deal with.
Everyone here has great insight into both sides; but to fix this - will require separation of the races. I'd suggest 'separation by at least an ocean' (the Atlantic would be a good one for this). Until that happens, or its somewhat more kinetic cousin - genocide - this will continue.
Almost seems like a set up, doesn't it?
