It's called running a business, not a charity

Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is receiving social media blowback for a recent post in which she expressed bewilderment that her local CVS drug store is taking anti-shoplifting measures by locking up basic products like laundry detergent.

Cynthia Nixon — who ran unsuccessfully for New York governor in 2018 — tweeted her comment along with her disbelief shoplifting can be prosecuted as a crime. “As so many families can’t make ends meet right now, I can’t imagine thinking that the way to solve the problem of people stealing basic necessities out of desperation is to prosecute them,” she tweeted.

    1. Exactly! Why not let her pay for all the theft. She is an idiot. Left her brains somewhere.

  5. Actress. That alone says a lot. Probably left of the moron running things in NY and can't grasp the concept of actually having to pay for things. After all, she probably has "people" to do all those kinds of menial tasks for her privileged white ass...

  6. That's the problem with Democrat idiots like Ms Nixon. They never want to give *THEIR OWN* money to their woke charitable causes? It's always someone else's money.

    I wonder what she would say if the "needy" stole from her instead of CVS? (Never mind. That question was rhetorical.)

    What a maroon!

  7. I know who steals laundry detergent. Especially Tide. Sounds like Nix needs to move to a better neighborhood.

  8. Laundry detergent is a big shoplifting target. It's stolen for resale - not because it's a basic necessity.

    1. Who buys black market laundry detergent? Just buy the cheaper stuff if you have to.

  10. I wonder if there are homeless people in her city....maybe she needs to open up her home to them. Yeah know, because charging rent in these times, “As so many families can’t make ends meet right now..."

  11. “As so many families can’t make ends meet right now, I can’t imagine thinking that the way to solve the problem of people stealing basic necessities out of desperation is to prosecute them,” she tweeted. Based on that tweet Ms Nixon should act without pay because people cannot afford show tickets. And I’m sure she will not have a problem with people illegally downloading anything in which she appears.

  13. Probably has armed guards, lives either in a gated community or guarded building and would absolutely not let anyone take anything from her housing.

  14. I used to remodel CVS stores all over the country...44 states. Without knowing anything about the surrounding area, you could tell if it was good or bad by what was in locking cabinets. If perfumes, colognes and hair product was locked up in locked glass cabinets, you knew you were in a bad neighborhood. Baby formula is always on shelves behind the checkout counter no matter which CVS you go to, usually. Laundry detergent is in the back of the store to make it harder to steal, but thieves will still grab as much as they can carry and bolt out of the emergency exit. In Texas, Loss Prevention people walk around the stores undercover and grab people all the time for trying to steal. Other states, not so much. If they make it to the door, they're home free.

  16. She's proving her lack of intelligence by opening her mouth. I never thought she was much of an actress.

  17. The last time I owned a television set was sometime last century.
    I have zero-zero-zero interest in televisionprogramming.

    After reading today's comments about cynthia nixon, I researched her:
    * full-time activist
    * part-time actress
    * mentally-ill offspring
    * she 'civil ceremonyed' with a mentally-ill adult female... and those two females produced offspring.

    I am glad that is somebody else's soap-opera.
