We have one of those in our yard. A Cottonwood growing sideways. It died, I trimmed the branches and shortened it. Sanded to a nice gleam, varnished. The tire looks to be from around 1950 or so. I am so proud, I could weep.
A had a regular walk I would take around my first shithole apartment in the Atlanta area when I was first getting my career started and along the way in a ditch there was a tree not quite that size growing up through one of the cylinders of a discarded engine block.
Looks like Happy Valley in Maui.

Another sign is standing behind the tree.
