Way back in the dawn of time, when I was stationed at Vandenberg AFB I witnessed something similar - The sky cops were having some sort of drill, and I was preflighting an airplane at the Aero Club...
ReplyDeleteA young airman with a SAW was taking cover behind one of the airplanes....now a Cessna 172 has about the same strength in it's skin as a beer can..... So, I suggested that perhaps a little area about 15' away would provide cover and concealment since he could fire from defilade at any aggressors attempting to steal a Cessna.
So, YA (Young Airman) salutes, picks up his SAW at Port Arms and runs over there. A Mighty leap, and he misses....sinks into the mire about three feet. I really felt bad - I didn't want him to be screwed up like that..
I decided to GTFO in the Cessna.... He had either sunk, or left by the time I got back.
At 7:20, they are stomping like they are hanging wrong in their pantyhose.
