Karens are gonna Karen

I got into a fight with a woman at a store. Fighting with strangers in public isn’t typically in my wheelhouse. Historically, I’m quite nonconfrontational. I’m the person who apologizes when someone bumps into me or just shrugs when someone cuts me in line. But last week, I reached my limit: I had the audacity to ask a stranger to wear a mask.

Two weeks to flatten the curve right?

I can’t imagine going through the day in such fear and ignorance.

  3. You can tell this woman is from a failed democrat state and she called Florida governor an incompetent? Would like to know why she moved from a liberal to a conservative state. Oh, and Karen can go to hell.

  4. Kenny, would you consider asking your readers that live in Florida what they are seeing in terms of ACTUAL COVID illnesses and hospitalizations? So much of what passes for "news: is heavy on providing percentage increases that seem frightening, but no actual data to back up the percentages. If a hospital goes from 2 to 4 people admitted with verified COVID symptoms, that's a 50% increase AND WE SHOULD ALL BE SHAKING WITH FEAR.

I live in Escambia County (Pensacola). We haven't seen a single COVID death since, at least, June 1, and the ICU is at 60% capacity - which is what it should have been designed for.

In addition, remember that the number of cases represents a self selected group consisting of people who actually don't feel well, and Karens.

    2. (Hope this doesn't double post!)

Perhaps you might read around this site:

That's but one of some number of posts Divemedic has up. He works in Florida's medical situations - as a clinician to my understanding.

    3. Nuthin' Nada. Zip. Bupkiss. I'm in Tampa... only asshole wearing masks are assholes from 'up North'... and calling them assholes is an insult to assholes. ERs here? two letters: M-T. All's quiet despite the fear porn.

And people, unless from out of town, KNOW to keep their pie hole shut... lest the get a proper public embarrassment case like when I started yelling like a DI and literally chased the motherfucker out of Publix while verbally abusing her and her husband... his wife started with me, and I told him flat-out "Yannow, you really should put a leash on your bitch when you go out of the house"

She was horrified and he didn't want to get his ass kicked. "Shut the hell up, we're leaving NOW!" and dragged her out of the store. They left and the guys who work at Publix were laughing their balls off...

    4. If it doubled, from 2 to 4 cases, that would be 100% increase - OMG!!!!

  5. I can stand a lot of things but how about a spoiler alert for articles that lead to Huff Po?

    Damn!

  7. Last seat on flight to Portland was next to us. Who shows up late, starts whining, and takes the seat? Karen. Right away she demanded everyone around her conform. About half way thru flight I snapped. Stood up and loudly proclaimed that wife and I had to change seats because I was getting air sick and did not want to throw up in the aisle. Karen now had something to worry about.

  8. File that under "events that never happened." It's Huffpost, so you know it is either an outright fabrication, or mere leftist trolling. Or both. But, as always, show me video evidence of such an encounter, or it never happened.

  9. That has all the ear-marks of a typical liberal troll. Everything the author did was calm, rational, courteous, polite, etc. Then the other person, for no reason whatsoever, acted rude and hateful. But not one ounce of empathy or understanding from the author toward anyone else's position on the topic. Nope. Her viewpoint is the only reasonable viewpoint, anything else is toxic and deadly. Typical liberal account, typical liberal viewpoint, even to the admission that even weeks later she is still shaken by the event. How did we ever let people like this get in charge?

    1. Never mind how did we ever let people like this get in charge. How did we ever let people like this survive to adulthood.

The woman the author accosted should have said "If YOUR mask works, what are you concerned about. Fuck off, stronger message to follow".

  10. Should we feel sorry for the fool who stuck it in her and knocked her up?

No, he is probably a Karen too.

I would have just bleated at her like a sheep. It works great!

  11. How long is this COVID shit now going on?
Last year April if I am right.
If we had handled it normally this virus would have burned itself out by now.

Or as the Vikings put it: (with some additions for modern times ahem)
The norns wove your skein a long time ago. It doesnt matter if you run, hide, wear NBC equipment, get vaxxed, etc. You will not live one second longer.

  13. If Karen's wearing the Magic Mask, then why is she/he/it worried? Do your own risk assessment and act accordingly.

  14. I believe we,unmasked and/or unvaxed, need to be aware of how afraid some people have been made to feel.I am not saying we have to live our lives in their fear but,for some, all they get is fear-based information. We need to accommodate when it is easy and not show hate for those who are ignorant. We are, perhaps, the one who can help people and to show hate may not be the best way to handle a situation. For the Christians out there is this the way someone changed your perception,or was it love or at least concern?

    2. AMEN!

The virus will be with us from here on out. How we react is the only thing that will change.

All maskers and vaxxers and .GOV and big Pharma have declared themselves as enemies of me and My health and freedom.

Its ON from here on out.

    3. "We need to accommodate when it is easy"

How do you think we got into this mess in the first place?

The POLITE answer to a creature like this Erica Greenfield person is "I'm sorry you feel that way, but no, I will not do what you demand. I'm not responsible for your phobias and irrational fears."

By the way, these people hate YOU, regardless of how you feel about them.

  16. I'm in Central FL in downtown Orlando. The fear porn is all over the news. Mask usage is up to maybe 1 in 10. A bunch of people say they've had it recently but none I know went to the hospital. I have friends working in the big hospitals here and they say nothing is unusual. Same in Tampa. It's flu season here, so most have had a sniffle recently.

Friends in Miami say it's about 1 in 5 wearing masks. They say it's mostly the Yankees, though. I was in Jacksonville 2 weeks ago and I saw very few masks.

The governor is getting more popular by the day. Even in the blue area where I live I see DeSantis shirts. Everything is open and the shelves are stocked. I hope HuffPo keeps articles like this coming! Keep the Karens north of here!

  18. "I snapped for my husband, who has endured my anxiety and fear..." About the only sentence I could see that begins to show that she might have a glimpse of her own issues.

  19. I don't get it. If you're that fearful of human contact because of a virus with a 99.7% recovery rate, why are you out in public in the first place? The flu is just as serious, and just as lethal, and that's with us all year 'round. Besides, the masks don't prevent the virus from reaching the nose or mouth of the user...or being transported from them. It says so on the side of the box you took the mask from!

Americans have never become this prissy over any other disease, including a few that were (and are) far more serious. Why now? Are the fear-porn-spreaders that hypnotically persuasive? They don't seem so to me. But then, what do I know, I who haven't watched television nor read a newspaper in more than a year? (:-)

  20. Thank God I live in Montana. The majority of people here are totally ignoring the covid hype. I was in wally world yesterday and maybe 10 of all shoppers had masks on. Mostly indians. And I saw one idiot walking down the street with a mask on. Outside!! Most masks were worn by the 15 to 20 year old kids. The good news is that in another 4-5 years most of the vaxxed will probably be dead.

  21. "Historically, I’m quite nonconfrontational."

TRANSLATION: I prefer to act helpless and play the victim while undermining traditional customs and normal social mores. When caught out and called for my subversion, I scream discrimination.

"for some reason I will never understand, they did not allow curbside returns or exchanges"

TRANSLATION: I am a fucking idiot (no doubt with an above average IQ, yet) who doesn't understand that if Wuflu is so dangerous that everyone needs to mask up even when no one else is around, then it is dangerous enough that it can persist on surfaces, such as on packages. Sure, you "believe in Science" but you can't be bothered to reason things out for yourself.

"I snapped for my toddler [...] for my infant [...] for my husband [...]for my father,[...] for the nearly 700,000 people whose deaths could have been prevented[...] for their families ..."

TRANSLATION: I can't even be fucked to take responsibility for my own emotional incontinence and rudeness. I have to claim the moral high ground by claiming to have acted like an asshole only on behalf of others.
