The 49-year-old “Dead to Me” star on Tuesday wrote on Twitter, “A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going.”
In 2008, Applegate underwent a bilateral mastectomy for breast cancer. Then in 2017, she revealed she’d had her ovarian and fallopian tubes removed.
My favorite bit was her as the alien hooker getting into the White House in the movie Mars Attacks.
ReplyDelete"She asked for privacy as she takes on this new health challenge." If ya want privacy, why do you feel the need to post everything on the net? Never understand that shit. If you want privacy, you're going about it wrong.
ReplyDeletebut LOOK AT ME !
DeleteWhile on the show, "Married ...", she also boldly and proudly declared herself a Vegetarian, and 'anti-fur'.
DeleteSometimes, the tabloids will find out about things like this and blow it up for magazine sales/clicks on the Internet. If the celebrity can get ahead of the tabloids and announce it in their own way, they can actually keep it pretty quiet.
DeleteChristina did keep her cancer battles fairly quiet. The bilateral mastectomy was one of the first big publicized ones, ahead of Angelina Jolie. She spoke about it to encourage other women with the same BRCA cancers to act decisively and not delay. It still came back and required the second surgery.
I agree with you, a lot of the time, but I think this woman did some good in talking about it.

My bride of 34 years has MS. I wish Ms. Applegate the best. MS is no bueno.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that Elmo praying for you two. Horrible disease, one of the participants in the Alone tv show left because hers started acting up. First time I had seen the consequences of that. No not watching TV streaming past seasons after reading about a current participant on this season.
DeleteBack in the 1980s she was a hot-bodied, dimwitted younster named Kelly and she was Al's "Pumpkin".
ReplyDeleteI can't find it in my heart to wish bad things to those who get diseases like this, no matter what their stories are. Even if Hanoi Jane were to get cancer, I would wish her good luck. I guess that is just human nature, to remember that we will all leave the earth feet first.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't mean that I won't piss on Fonda's grave, if I come near it, nor do I forgive her for her actions during the Vietnam war, that harmed our heroes. Just that human compassion must be available for everyone, since God has given it to me, and I am compelled to share it with all.
In the case of Christina Applegate, I have seen her grow from playing bimbos to mothers seeking escape from their stressful lives with kids. While I have not watched many movies in years, she seems like a decent sort, and has given me no reason to hate on her. So I of course wish her all the best.
Pigpen, that's because you're a conservative with a brain and a heart - - and I applaud you for it. Did you notice when Rush announced his cancer the left dancing with glee? Or the vile things they said about Reagan or Thatcher.
DeleteConservatives are the compassionate ones.
