It started raining yesterday afternoon about 4, and hasn't quit yet, although it's not bad right at the moment.
I checked the TVA site earlier and it says we got 2.18" of rain between 4 PM and midnight. Right before I went to bed last night at 9, I set a one gallon bucket in the yard and this morning it's got right at 4.5" of rainwater in it.
My favorite weather/radar site, Ventusky.com, says we're due for another couple inches today. One good thing though is the winds have been fairly calm, maybe 15-20 mph at the most, so I'm not real worried about the trees close to the house being blown over due to saturated ground. Matter of fact, looking out the window at the trees, the wind's not blowing at all.
I rode out the 1970 Lubbock tornado. Weather has been a serious hobby since. I still read the surface charts with the flag sticks and circles. Thanks for the website address. That is too cool. Really puts the surface chart in motion...
ReplyDeleteWe sure could use some of that rain here. The well is dry and our 1,000 gallon cistern is getting drained. We have to do our laundry in town, every summer.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to add some more water storage.
Where is "here"?
DeleteWe here in northwest Alabama have moss and mildew growing on our backs. We have received almost 4" from Ida and over a 100" in the past year with one of the wettest summers on record. Based on those totals, we qualify to be called a tropical rainforest.
DeleteWe got just under 4 inches from Ida, but the rest of the year has been about average, maybe even a little drier than average.
DeleteGlad y'all are coming through okay!
