It’s a crime many people admit doing and now, California state lawmakers have voted to legalize crossing the street mid-block if no cars are around.
The bill’s author, Assembly member Phil Ting (D-San Francisco), says jaywalking tickets have become a way for police to unfairly target minorities.

While I admit to doing it myself and I think having to walk a half a block to cross a street is unnecessary when I have more than enough room and time to cross where I'm at, using the racist excuse is just plain stupid.
