ReplyDeleteThanks Wirecutter
It is, huh? I've watched videos of all those folks at different times, but it's the first time I've watched them together. Amazing talent right there.
DeleteIt's a trip, that video just popped up on my youtube feed right out of the blue.
Check out his stuff with Billy Strings. Excellent!!
ReplyDeleteI'll do that, thanks.
DeleteI often watch obscure talent on youtube. I played music in a rock band, playing sax, mostly, and a little guitar. I was single, and would often go to jam sessions, alone. I just remembered that I met a Nashville session violin player there, I think he was from Kansas City.
DeleteI looked up some of the session musicians from Nashville, and I think that his name is Brenton Banks. I can't find any pictures of him, but some of the songs that he played on seemed familiar, from these 30 years ago. The most familiar that I remember was Funny How Time Slips Away. Not sure which singer he did it with, it has been done so often.
The strange thing I was just thinking of is that at some of the jam sessions, I met musicians who were twice as good as people you see playing in huge arenas and on television, making huge money, especially now, with the only thing that matters is the LOOK, and not even singing ability, due to electronics and auto tune, etc.
I am content now to play in my house, or with my neighbors or my son on occasion, just to make noise. But I have to say, I was a Deacon in a Baptist church, and I played music in bars, and I was treated better playing music in bars than I was in a Baptist church. And no one was trying to pretend to be anyone but themselves. Go figure.
That was great, thanks
ReplyDeleteVideo nothing, I saw it LIVE at ROCKYGRASS!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLucky you!
DeleteNice!! Keep em coming. That's refreshing and it's good to see real Americans jamming.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteMichael Cleveland is an incredible story.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'd have not known about him and his incredible talent without this post.
I've been listening to him play the fiddle for a few years now and the videos I posted do not do his talent justice. He really is amazing.
DeleteThere's a YouTube video, a documentary of his life story. I'd have sent the link to you but it's well over an hour long. Good rainy day stuff.
DeleteI'll look it up, thanks.
