Data Shows Percent of Fatalities in People Hit by Gunfire: Highly Variable, by City

(AmmoLand.com)- This writer has been interested in the percent of fatalities of people who are deliberately shot, for decades. It is not an easy number to quantify. The inverse of that number is the percent of those shot who survive. 

According to Battle Casualties and Medical Statistics: U.S. Army Experience in the Korean War, 13.5% of troops shot with bullets in Korea, died. Most of those were from rifle and machine gun fire, hit with full metal jacketed bullets. 

In 2014, this correspondent looked at numbers from Wisconsin (young, black, males) and Chicago. The Wisconsin numbers were from 2010, Chicago numbers were from 2013 and 2014.

    Despite the author's observation availability of competent EMS services and proximity to a true Trauma Center are major factors in the survival rate of GSW victims. The "Golden Hour" in trauma care is very real.

      With proper shot placement and marksmanship, trauma centers and the golden hour are both rendered moot points

      Yeah, it is a pretty shitty report. COmpares one city for one year with a different city for a different year. Fails to take into account Ambulance response time and the trauma centers availability, fails to take into account a lot of things.

      Useless "data", really.

      Looking at the Calif data, per 100,000, Blacks have 17x more shooting victims than Whites.
      Aaaand Whites are the problem?

    It would appear that Blacks and Hispanics need to spend more time in gun safety classes, since Whites are still the majority of the population (62% White, Hispanic 16.9% and Blacks 12.6%) but Whites are the minority in fatalities. How's that for twisting the data?

    Then again, we could say, Whites are more resilient to gun shots...Or Whites need to spend more time at the range...Or...

    Steve Sailer is a commentator who writes for takimag.com, a conservative website. His usual topics are heavy on statistical analysis. He theorizes that you can tell if it is a white or black shooter by the body count. If there are more dead than wounded, it's a white shooter, and if there are more wounded than dead, it's a black shooter. This is because when whites run amok, they plan ahead and go back to, for example, the company that fired them and shoot systematically. Blacks, on the other hand, get dissed at the block party, do a drive by and just spray bullets.
