Even though you know how the guy does it, you still are amazed as a little kid seeing just how good he is at it. And it is entertainment, not meant to be studied until you can figure out just exactly how he does it. There are some things that are better left as wonder, and not investigated until you figure out the nuts and bolts of things. Just like kids need to have a sense of wonder in the joy of the universe, or just how big is the ocean. There is plenty of time for them to be part of the group of scientists trying to learn more about our world, after they grow up. Joy just for the sake of joy is part of what makes us human.
It doesn't matter how old or sophisticated you are... magic is just fun.
