The system would be similar to the way hurricanes, tornados and air quality are categorized.

When I lived in the Central Valley, we already had a ranking system in place. It was:
100-105 degrees - Damn, it's pretty hot.
105-110 degrees - Holy shit, it's hot today.
110 and above - Dear Mother of God, I'm dying here.
I'm down here in southern Arizona, where it's "Holy Hell" every day.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing. It really depends on where you live as to whether the temperature is a abnormal or not.
DeleteIf it gives Jose's cousin a job.....
ReplyDeleteIn w Texas it went like this
ReplyDelete95-100 So nice it's a cool one today
low 100s Getty a bit toasty out isn't it
upper 100s Really warming up ain't it
over 110 Just do not walk on the black top
There were a couple times it was over 110 every day for weeks. But I gotta say, after 45 years in CO, I really came to like those winters. 50s & 60s almost every day with the occasional crappy 3 day front.
Lake Havasu City, in the 70's when i lived there, in July you couldn't walk down a sidewalk very far before you had to step off somewhere to cool your feet. the sidewalks and streets were that hot.
ReplyDeletecar tires would become sticky.
...but it's a dry heat ;-)) Nemo
ReplyDeleteRest in peace, Private Hudson.
DeleteIn Tucson at 115, it was "Thank God we're not in Phoenix"
ReplyDelete"100-105 degrees - Damn, it's pretty hot.

110 and above - Dear Mother of God, I'm dying here." Good thing I am not doing any roofing today.
It is still the same way down here in the Valley. Thank goodness for AC and pools and showers.
