University of Maryland Adds New Ethnic Category for ‘Students of Color Minus Asian’

On Thursday, a photo went viral of a student admissions chart from the University of Maryland, which depicts a bizarre new racial category for non-White students titled “Students of Color, minus Asian,” the Daily Caller reports.

  3. This is excellent. It's the next best thing to saying flat out "people who need lower standards to get by" and "normal people".

It's not as if this is any mystery. Anyone in academia who pays attention sees this every fucking day. Ron Unz did a very interesting analysis of college admissions to elite universities (not that Maryland is elite). Unz used PSAT score as a proxy for merit, and then looked at percentage of entering students by ethnicity vs percentage with "good" PSAT scores. So if 30% of the entering class was group X, and 30% of the top PSAT scores were from group X then X would be "perfectly" represented (1:1). On the other hand, if 20% were from group Y, but Y had only 10% of the high PSAT scores, then Y would be 2x OVER represented. If group Z has 60% of the high scores, but only 20% of the entering class is Z, then this means Z is 3x UNDERrepresented. Easy, right?

So it turns out that Asians are slightly underrepresented, and whites are also slightly underrepresented. But Blacks and Hispanics (self-reported ethnicity) are infinitely overrepresented, because there were essentially zero Blacks or Hispanics with top PSAT scores. (WHY this might be the case is a separate discussion.) Another fascinating thing that came out was if you separated "whites" into Jews and non-Jews, then the non-Jewish whites were something like 3x UNDERrepresented, while Jews were OVERrepresented, vs their PSAT scores. Basically the people most fucked in terms of getting into elite colleges are non-Jewish whites (and not Asians).

  4. Lets be honest, Asians wouldn't sign the non-compete clause!

  5. Well, in Britain the Pakistanis are called Asian. So there's that.

    1. Folks tend to forget that Indians (dot not feather), Pakis, Afganis, Syrians, Saudis, Turks, etc. are all technically Asian.
We like to think Asian means “Oriental”.

    2. And, for purposes of academic qualification, Asian does indeed mean "oriental".

"Technically Asian" means "some twits in the UK uses the word like this". The groups listed are mixed but predominantly caucasian despite the British mischaracterization. As a group, the middle easterners tend to assort with the other caucasians academically when given a western academic background. That is, academically the orientals as a group beat the caucasians, and the caucasians beat the negroes.

  6. Real racism exist on the left against Asians. They are non-white minorities that don't fit the victom mold so are not useful for the left to promote their hate agenda.

Notice how fast the media dropped the Asian racism stories when they realized all of the attacks were being committed by blacks?
