Let's not do that this year, please.
There's a lot of folks and organizations that are really hurting this year due to our economy and need the gifts or money a lot more than I do. Would you please think about writing a check or dropping off gifts for them instead of giving it to me?
Do you have an ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens) or similar organization running a group home in your town? Shelters for battered women? Anything like that? Fire stations often pass out gifts this time of the year for poor families. Or how about somebody in your area that fosters unwanted pets that are waiting on adoption? Even your community's local 4H or FFA program could use the help.
All of the above would really appreciate your gift.
Please understand that I'm grateful for your thoughtfulness in the past, but there are many more forgotten folks that need to be thought of this year and I know they'll appreciate anything they can get.
Thank you for considering this.
You are truly a good human being!! Will be donating extra and local thanks to your message.
ReplyDeleteI have personally met Mr. Lane unexpectedly, after some time of following his blog, and had the pleasure of talking with him on several occasions. If I am any judge of character, this act is consistent with his nature. Kudos and a great idea.
DeleteThe people you meet in Walmart, huh?
DeleteOnly the finest folks in the county.

ReplyDeleteSalvation Army every year until the Lunatic Left got hold of their leadership. Now it's cat rescue.
ReplyDeleteI am totally impressed that you'd pen such a magnanimous and selfless request. Another reason to respect and honor you.

ReplyDeleteKen, you're a good man...
ReplyDeleteMr. Lane, that is very gracious and admirable of you - kudos and Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeletePS: Maybe you should add to NOT give money to the Salvation Army after they just went woke. :P
With the tornados just the other day we sent a big check to Samaritans purse. We've been giving to them for a couple of years. Last year I sent them my stimulus check and it came home in a few months. Step daughter got flooded when the dams burst in midland last year. It was a Samaritans purse crew that cleaned out their house.
ReplyDeleteGod will bless you for this, Kenny. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteBless you for that sentiment and wish.
ReplyDeleteLisa has a good man.

ReplyDeleteGod Bless You & Yours.
He's the reason for the season.
It's because of who you are and what you do that I like to help. I get a lot of pleasure from this blog and I know there are costs in time and money. I will honor your wishes and my wishes and do both. I will make a donation to a local autistic center because of my severely autistic grandson in your name , but not "In Memory Of". Way too early for that shit. If that pisses you off let me know and I will reconsider.
ReplyDeleteYour heart is definitely in the right place, sir! Many thanks for keeping the focus where it needs to be.
ReplyDeleteKen you are a True American! Each year on the Monday after Thanksgiving I give My lawyer some money and she works with the prosecutors office to find a worthy female recipient. Usually someone working two jobs trying to support herself and kids cause husband beat her and is now in prison. I do not know who she gives it to and the lady does not know from where it came, Secret Santa type thing. Keeps money local and goes to someone who can use it not some charity executive.
ReplyDeleteI sent what money I normally donate to a former Afghan that served as a translator for my wife's oldest son while he was in Afghanistan. It took quite some effort to get him and his family out after the collapse of the government and the feckless behavior of the Xiden admin. My step son spoke glowingly about the interpreter and his word was good enough for me.
ReplyDeleteThis is a perfect time to "keep it local".
ReplyDeleteI have a no kill shelter and a homeless shelter that have great records fiscally and do great work.
I will as another said donate in your families name, thanks for once again thinking of others and Merry Christmas!
Thank you for mentioning ARC. My brother Tim had Downs. He has passed on to much better place now. God bless us all.
