Does a Law Enforcement Oath Mean Anything Anymore?

I had coffee recently with a friend of mine, a retired FBI agent. We were talking about the mess the FBI has become. He’s even more disturbed about the politicization of the bureau than I am. During our talk he said something very interesting: “Current agents are just keeping their heads down and following orders.” A simple statement with profound implications.

Jobs in law enforcement are fundamentally different than other jobs. That difference is the oath that all law enforcement officers swear. The FBI oath states:

  1. The United States of America INC. has not had any Constitution to swear to since 1873 when the British crown and the Rothschilds stole it and put the USA Inc. under maritime law. Go look it up.

  2. that line got crossed a very long time ago. there never was a FBI like the tv show.
well, maybe a few of them. but anyone after muller who made everyone of them "work" in dc,,,
the ones who might have remained faithful to the oath retired a long time ago.
like most of the swamp, damn near everything there is rotten and stinks. and they stop serving the people a very long time ago. funny how all of them retire in style that 90% of us could never afford ? just following orders didn't work out too well the last time ,what makes them think it will work this time ?

  3. Ich gehorchte den befehlen (I was obeying orders) as an excuse went out of fashion around 1945 for a certain uniformed Government organisation.

    Th same should apply here.

    1. Nah, it didn't go out of fashion at all. It's just harder to rely on if your side loses.

I’d enjoy hearing the building collapsed on all that trash and deleted them…

  5. The problem with modern police is that they are no longer peace officers, but have become law enforcement officers.

  6. As a retired FBI Special Agent, I can tell you all of this is true. The Bureau does not trust retired agents, we are old school. I can remember when the FBI was patriotic, but no more. They are part of the problem.

  7. Another problem with the city LEO is the low IQ recruiting process. Using the phrase "repeat after me" followed the oath; they just make sounds like parrots without comprehending. I've only had one encounter in the last 30 years with a LEO that I would trust; that includes just casually talking with them to traffic stops.

  8. Many, many years, I used to lecture at the FBI Academy. One day after I talked, I went to lunch in the cafeteria next to the gift shop. I was talking to one of the students, who was not an FBI agent but was with a federal agency, about a federal case I was peripherally involved with. I said I was amazed at the resources put into taking this one person down. The agent smiled and said "You don't understand. In the United States there are no innocent people. There are only untargeted people."

I thought it was a joke, but now, a few decades later, I think it was a truth.
